Length: LOOOOTTTSSSSS of kilometers Duration: 15 months
First I'll take the train to Almaty (Kazakhstan). From there I'll cycle to Tashkent, Samarkand, Buxoro (Uzbekistan) and then I'm cycling to Dushanbe and the Pamir Highway (Tadjikistan). I'll cycle through Kyrgyzstan a tiny bit, to get to the border towards China. From Kashgar in China I'll take a train to Lanzhou and from there I'll cycle to the south, until Chengdu. There I'll take a train or fly to Hong Kong. After visiting Hong Kong I'll continue cylcing towards Laos. I should arrive in Laos in November 2016.
I'll be in South East Asia for a couple of months, until (somewhere April 2017) I'll cycle back to China and all the way up to Beijing. There I'll take a ferry to South-Korea and from there to Japan. I'll be in Japan for about 2-3 months and then I'll take another ferry, this time to Vladivostok, where I'll board the Transsiberian and go home.... . A more detailed itinerary can be found on my blog (written in June 2015).

We started our trip in Tokyo and stayed there for a couple of days. Then we went to the Kii Peninsula, to walk part of the Nakahechi (which is part of the Kumano Kodo). After that we traveled to Miyajima, near Hiroshima and from there we went back up, to Osaka and lastly to Kyoto, passing Nara on the way.
Japan 2011
Length: 3300 kilometers Duration: 3 months, half of it I used to cycle (so 6 weeks cycling)
I started all the way in the north, in Wakkanai. From there I just cycled north, often near the sea or at least in the valleys, to avoid climbing. I often cycled on the big roads, but sometimes I took the more scenic and quiet roads, although that meant more climbing! The blue lines are ferries.
